Taurus is one of my fav signs because it's all about sensual, earthly pleasures.
It’s about connecting to your body, to Mama Earth and allowing SENSORY experiences guide you closer and closer towards what feels good.
We live in a society that gets numbed out (with technology, social media, trauma, food and booze just to name a few) and so your prompt with this new moon is to TUNE INTO YOUR SENSES.
So let’s get sensual! And yes, sensuality is paramount in your sexuality and the quality of your sexual experiences, but being "sensual" literally just means using your senses.
It means sunshine on your skin, full breath in your lungs, feeling comfortable, free and sensually engaged in this present moment.
So I really encourage you to allow yourself to bring in a sense of innocence as you explore your sensuality.
That doesn’t mean you can’t get your sexy on, or bring this sense of sensuality into the bedroom, but what I really encourage you to do is to allow yourself to enjoy the simple pleasures of being in your body and to have gratitude towards what your body allows you to experience.
So if you have issues with your body, with confidence, or shame, or issues of perfection … allow yourself to DROP THE STORY ABOUT YOUR BODY and enjoy the experience of BEING IN YOUR BODY.
If you've been physically, emotionally, spiritually, sensually or sexually numb for awhile (aka suppressing, rejecting or avoiding feeling anywhere in your body or your being) then try these baby steps to begin re-sensitizing.
To do this, start with your breath. Close your eyes and take three long, deep, big belly inhales. Try it right now. Close your eyes and breathe.
How’d it feel?
Do you notice any sensations that are different now that you’ve brought fresh energy into your body? Any difference in your emotional state, physical body or state of mind?
Breath is a great pathway to our senses, because it calms the nervous system while heightening our sensual sensitivties. This is great for activating our shakti, tuning into our intuition, feeling like a million bucks in our bodies, having sensory and spiritually based experiences ... annnd also happens to be one of the best kept secrets when it comes to having mind blowing sex - but more on that later ;)
The next tip I have for you to tune back into your body is to close your eyes again, and continue the deep belly breathing, but this time take your fingertips and allow them to caress your skin. Lightly, the softer your touch, the greater the sensation.
Find what feels good. Allow yourself to bring sensation to the parts of your body you neglect the most. Your belly, your elbows, your feet.
Humans need touch and unfortunately many of us are starved for it. So let yourself touch yourself, with innocence and ease. This is a gateway to generating greater awareness, deeper sensation, increased pleasure and yes, self-love (even if you struggle with it) towards your body.
After you’ve explored tuning into your own body and finding what feels good, have some fun with the sensual energy of spring (which is heightened with the current energy of Taurus) to help you further break down the barriers that keep you from the EARTHLY SENSUAL DELIGHTS of your body and enjoying life and all of its sacred moments …. and by this I mean, GET OUT IN NATURE, MOVE YOUR BODY and USE YOUR SENSES!
This weekend and into the next few weeks, use this time to tune in and prioritize the simple and natural things that bring you pleasure and joy.
We all have to prioritize this form of pleasure in our lives, otherwise it won’t happen. So really think about how you want to feel or what you want to experience, and then put it on the calendar, keeping in mind, sensual pleasures can be simple and easily accessed throughout the day. All you have to do is MOVE + BREATHE AND FEEL ... aka use your senses.
Personally, I sit in my backyard without any agenda for at least 10 minutes a day and take my dog for a walk in the big park by my house - and this helps me feel nourished until I can get out of town to play in the mountains, go for a hike, a paddle board or a swim.
This new moon, use your senses, let your body be the doorway in and allow nature to help guide you towards simple and innocent sensual pleasures. Sit under the stars, walk in the cool morning air, take a bath, walk barefoot on the grass, find a river to wade in, watch the fresh green leaves rustle through the trees, sit on a patio and watch the sun set.
Beyond the innate joy that we each deserve from the simple pleasures of life, the reason I care so much about sensuality is because it is a key element in healing body shame. It's like the gateway drug to get back to your body :) So if you experience body shame regularly, please please please give the practices I mentioned in this post a try.
YOU DESERVE TO FEEL GOOD, so let yourself drop the societal standards of what your body should be in order to allow yourself to connect with nature and activate your senses to ENJOY being a sensory based being.
